It’s important to set up a deworming plan for your pet, if you haven’t already.

When should my pet be dewormed?

Kittens and puppies are dewormed more often than adult pets, since they’re often born with worms. These worms are passed on from their mother before giving birth. This means they might need to start deworming medication as early as 2 to 3-weeks-old, up until 3-months-old. After that, they might need to be dewormed less frequently. How does deworming work?

Your pet is susceptible to a range of parasite infections that might affect them internally or externally. Certain risk factors like where you live, how often your pet comes into contact with other furry friends or outdoor areas they frequent might increase their likelihood of being exposed to parasites. Dogs are better hosts than cats but that doesn’t mean they’re not at risk too. Our veterinary team will either inject or give them the worm-killing medicine in their mouth. This will kill any worms affecting your pet.

Is it safe?

Yes, deworming is perfectly safe for your pet. Deworming medicine is meant to kill parasites, not cause any harm to your furry family member. It’s more harmful to potentially allow parasites to continue living inside your pet. It might be difficult to diagnose parasites without testing a stool sample. Parasites can wreak havoc on your pet’s health and the symptoms include:
